Boston: Fragments, 1935-1938. First Edition. 37 octavo bifolium issues (21.5cm.) bound together in contemporary half red morocco over blue gilt-lettered cloth, gilt spine in six compartments, top edge gilt, marbled endpapers; additional related ephemera and newspaper clippings, including one typed letter from "The writers of FRAGMENTS," tipped and bound in by previous owner Georgia Atwood White, friend of the editor's, her ownership inscription reading "Georgia Atwood White-- Prof. O'Kane I met at 'Bread Loaf' Summer school of English, Middlebury Vermont - Aug 1936 - when he was passing thro' to his camp." Leather a bit rubbed along extremities and spine hinges, spine darkened with small loss of leather at crown; each issue shows faint mail fold line (as issued?) and extensive annotation in White's hand. Vol. 1, no. 1, signed and inscribed "With the high regard of Walter Collins O'Kane."
Exceedingly scarce ephemeral literary magazine comprised chiefly of short essays and poetry published anonymously by O'Kane, later known for his anthropological studies of the Hopis. Yale only in OCLC as of September, 2016. Not in HOFFMAN.
