Original Broadside: "I Am A Black Woman Communist..."

New York: CPUSA, 1972. One of two broadsides we've seen featuring Angela Davis, produced for the 20th Convention of the CPUSA in New York on Feb.18-21, 1972. The following quote is printed beneath her portrait: "I am a black woman Communist / the corrupt government of this country could not accept such a combination / this is why they launch an effort to murder me." The artist's signature, identified only as "Sherman," is printed at upper right corner. We find no holdings for this broadside in OCLC, though we note a screenprinted poster with this quote held at The Oakland Museum of California. A2. Single sheet of glossy white stock, offset printed in black on recto only; 22cm X 42cm (8 5/8" X 16.5"). Some trivial wear to extremities, else Fine.
