Gray's tell-all memoir, written on Death Row at Sing-Sing while awaiting execution for the murder of his lover Ruth Snyder's husband. The trial of Judd Gray and Ruth Snyder, which resulted in the first execution of a woman in New York's electric chair, was one of the great criminal scandals of the Jazz Age. The event inspired numerous fictional treatments, including James M. Cain's classic noir novel "Double Indemnity."
