They Have No Answer. Speeches Delivered in the House of Lords

Glasgow: The Strickland Press, 1950. Reprint. Staple-bound pamphlet. Printed coated paper wrappers; 37pp. Very Good.

Excerpts from the speeches of the Hastings Russell, 12th Duke of Bedford before the House of Lords, all on the subject of monetary reform. Russell, an ardent Pacifist and advocate of Social Credit, was accused on several occasions of harboring Fascist sympathies. His son described him as "...the loneliest man I ever knew, incapable of giving or receiving love, utterly self-centred and opinionated. He loved birds, animals, peace, monetary reform, the park and religion." He died of a gunshot wound (likely self-inflicted) in 1952.
