Pasadena: by the Author, 1923. Second Edition. Four 12mo volumes (18cm), in uniform pictorial buff wrappers printed in black ink. The relatively uncommon wrappered issue, comprising the entire Second Edition of 8,000 copies. A bitter attack on the American university system, with frequent reference to Sinclair's own experiences at Columbia University and with Columbia President Nicholas Murray Butler, whom Sinclair portrays as a puppet of the city's business interests.
