Boston: I.G. Gates, Printer, [ca 1875]. 16mo. Sewn printed wrappers; 24pp. Mild creasing at corners, else Near Fine. Souvenir booklet and program for the exhibition of Philippoteaux' massive circular panorama Le Siége de Paris. Philippoteaux completed his original panorama in 1872, when it becamse a cause célèbre in Paris; the Boston impresario T.E. Halleck commissioned a duplicate, which he put on display in Boston beginning in 1875. The current program never mentions Phiippoteaux by name, leading us to wonder whether Halleck may have commissioned artisan painters to execute the facsimile. Though not illustrated, the program provides a narrative description of the work.
