The Fifteenth Biennial Exhibition of Contemporary American Oil Paintings. March 28 to May 9, 1937. Washington DC: The Corcoran Gallery of Art 1937. Wraps. Pictorial wrappers (softcover, as issued); 164pp; illus. Moderate soil to covers, else VG or better. Exhibition catalogue, with b/w reproductions of work by many notable 1930s painters, including Guy Pene du Bois, N.C. Wyeth, Thomas Hart Benton, Harry Gottlieb, William Glackens, etc. Note that the Corcoran biennials were sale exhibitions, not museum shows; thus, many of the paintings pictured wound up in private collections. A valuable reference, particularly for second-tier artists for whom no catalogue raisonne exists. 12mo - over 6¾" - 7¾" tall. Very Good
