The official history of the Agricultural Wheel and Farmer’s Alliance, two closely-associated radical agrarian movements founded in the Arkansas Delta in 1882. At their height, the Wheel & Alliance numbered over 100,000 members in ten southern states; but after 1890, when agrarian reforms were incorporated into the platforms of the Progressive and Democratic Parties, membership tailed off rapidly.
