Giants Should be Gelded

New York: G.P. Putnam's Sons, 1932. First Edition. Octavo. Green cloth boards, lettered in gilt on spine and front cover; dustjacket; 277pp. Tight, Near Fine copy in the exceedingly scarce dustwrapper, lightly soiled and with a few closed tears, still bright, unclipped, and on the better side of VG.

Depression-era realist novel portraying the tribulations of a nine-foot-tall giant in a world of normal men. Partially set in Minneapolis and written by a Minnesota author. Apparently the only published novel by Carlaw (1905-1979), who went on to a storied career as a Madison Avenue advertising copywriter and executive, where his contributions included the immortal Campbell's Soup slogan: "Mmm-mmm good." Not in Hanna.
