The Six. Translated from the German by Ray E. Chase. Drawings by Doris Whitman Chase

New York: Rocker Publications Committee, 1938. First Edition. Octavo (19cm). Green textured cloth boards; 255pp. An especially clean, tight copy, Near Fine but for some pinpoint rubbing to spine ends and board corners.

An extended, impressionistic meditation on the "careers" of six characters from literature -- Faust, Don Juan, Hamlet, Don Quixote, Bedardus, and Heinrich von Ofterdingen, written in Rocker's highly idiosyncratic style. Not a particularly uncommon Rocker title, but a fragile one, hard to find in such nice condition.
